Empty stock, leads to more panic
Inflating prices and therefore costs to households that may be losing income
Accessibility issues due to infection control
Same shopping list each week?
Many startups made purely for COVID will be dissolved after the pandemic is over
ShoppingAid is a mobile phone application:
Users record approximate stock levels in supermarkets. Users include both visitors to the supermarket and shop assistants.
Users at home can see these stock levels prior to setting out of the supermarket
Approximate stocking updates can be given
Machine learning algorithms can predict the use of stock in supermarkets based on customer buying
Prices in each supermarket will also be listed
Users can input their shopping list into the app and see where the best supermarket for them to shop at is - dependant on distance and price and availability of stock
Distance will be based upon geolocation of user
Users can scan their receipts into the app to record what they bought and for what price
This will feed into the system to update our algorithms
This can be used by the user for tracking their own spending/buying habits
Past scanned receipts can be copied to make a current shopping list
Optional: An algorithm can be made to predict your shopping list each week, dependant on past purchases
This will feed into Solution #6
The use of the app should allow a click and collect, such that customers can select their shopping from their shop. And then travel to collect the shopping.
Potential ability to work with businesses, to offer a drive-through experience to reduce social contact
We can offer a click, collect and deliver option led by volunteers for the elderly population who are self-isolating.
Option to register users as volunteers to deliver and match based on location

Anybody who wants to contribute!
We have a lot of ideas of where we can pivot this post-hackathon for use within the NHS.
Final: Thank you for everybody for your contributions and support. I apologise that I missed a lot of messages on this, I only just saw them now.
